Welcome to our classroom blog! I am very excited about sharing information about all the fun and exciting things we do in kindergarten! I plan to use this sight to post happenings in our classroom during the year. I will try to post things weekly and also after a special event in our classroom. I will be using our Kindergarten Facebook Page to post pictures of events. I will give you a reminder on this blog so you can refer to our Facebook page to see the pictures.

First of all I would like to let you know that I am a graduate of Iowa State University. Go Cyclones! I am beginning my 24th year of teaching. I thoroughly enjoy teaching kindergarten and I am looking forward to a great year with my students!

I have a husband named Eric, two sons, Zach and A.J. and a daughter named Mackenzie. I love to take pictures so be watching for me to post them. I also enjoy scrap booking and spending time with my family. I have a dog named Buddy and six cats! We went on a family vacation to Red Rock Lake last summer and enjoyed fishing and spending family time together. We had a blast! My husband and I enjoyed a trip to New York! It was an amazing experience!

Firemen Visited

On Friday, October 8th the Barnum Fire Department visited our school to talk to us about fire safety.  They took us outside to see the firetrucks and gave us a RIDE!  It was awesome!  Look for the pictures on the right side!  They also gave us a yellow slip that needs to be read and signed by an adult by this Friday.  If we all bring the yellow slips back our whole class gets an ice cream party!

Field Trip!

We had a perfect day for our field trip to Kennedy Park!  The weather was wonderful and so were the students and parent helpers!  Be looking for a slide show of all the pictures we took during our field trip.  Thanks to all the volunteers!  We couldn't have done it without you!  :)

We do have school on September 22nd, but we have an 12:30/12:50 dismissal time.

October 6th- No school for elementary students due to teacher inservice, but the high school will have school.

Field Trip to Kennedy Park!

The kindergarten classes will be taking a field trip to Kennedy Park on Thursday, October 7th.  Any parent who would like to volunteer for that day please contact me.  It will be a wonderful day of learning for the students.  :)

Color Days and Show and Tell

We finished up our color days Friday.  During the week we had fun painting orange splots after reading The Big Orange Splot and white clouds after reading It Looked Like Spilt Milk.  We also learned the rhyme Little Boy Blue and Baa, Baa, Black sheep and illustrated them in our Nursery rhyme book.  We listened to Brown Bear, Brown Bear and made a class book about brown animals. 


Monday we will start our show and tell rotation.  I sent home a show and tell list on Friday.  Please note your child's show and tell day.  Each student may bring one item of their choice on their show and tell day.  They may bring or tell about something special.  They seem very excited about this!  :)
